For nonprofits under $200,000 in gross receipts and $500,000 in assets
File Form 990-EZ Online
The 990-EZ is a real form, and you will not start it from scratch here: your prior-year details and IRS records are imported before you type a thing.

990-EZ questions
Who has to file a 990-EZ?
Tax-exempt organizations with gross receipts under $200,000 and total assets under $500,000. Gross receipts means the total money received in the year, before expenses. Inside those limits, the 990-EZ is your annual return; smaller organizations have a faster option.
990-N vs 990-EZ?
Size decides. Gross receipts normally $50,000 or less: the 990-N is eight questions, takes about five minutes, and the faster start for small organizations. Between $50,000 and $200,000 in receipts, with assets under $500,000: the 990-EZ, right here.
File a 990-N instead →What if my nonprofit is over $200k?
At $200,000 or more in gross receipts,or $500,000 or more in total assets, the IRS requires the full Form 990, which File 990 does not prepare. We would rather say that plainly now than have you discover it mid-filing. The full Form 990 is the form to plan for.

Questions
The details, directly
When is the 990-EZ due?
By the 15th day of the 5th month after your tax year ends. For calendar-year nonprofits that is May 15 of the following year. If your fiscal year ends on June 30th, your due date is November 15th. And if your fiscal year ends September 30th, your due date is February 15th.
Which schedules apply to my organization?
It depends on your activities. Public charity status, contributions, and certain transactions each trigger their own schedule. The filing flow asks about your year and surfaces the schedules that apply.
Can we get an extension (Form 8868)?
Yes. If you need more time to file your Form 990-EZ, you can request an automatic six-month extension by filing Form 8868 before your original filing deadline.
We filed the 990-N before. Can we switch to the 990-EZ here?
Yes. If your organization outgrew the 990-N, start the 990-EZ with the same EIN. Your IRS record comes with you and your prior filings stay in one place.
